Who said Vert is Dead?

Someone forgot to tell Dave and Ashley. In the begining stages of building their new bowl, they now have a 10.5 tranny, 18" of vert, 20 ft wide vert ramp with pipe, pool coping and topped with skatelite. After getting the decks on, what a better way to celebrate than having a Backyard BBQ and Vert sesh. To quote Corbett: "back in the 80/90's this would of been the best vert ramp on the East Coast. Built solid and fast as hell". With a handful of skaters I got to ride some vert close to home and get a few good clicks of Dave doing what he does best. Blast! Enjoy the pics, thanks for having us all over guys, it was a treat despite the heat.

Winchester VA Vert!

Same day further on up the coast lies a vert ramp in the woods. Forgotton by time preserved by smart construction....

I think there is a movement to move this ramp to a new spot with upgrades bringing it up to date with a new surface. Below is an account from Peter Furnee, with infamous Texas ripper Brett Roper, they went out and brought back the stoke....

Peter Furnee:
"The ramp is currently in Winchester, VA, and readying to be moved to Charles Town, WV, probably for adoption by the city for their Skatepark. If so, they'll put skatelite, pool block and 8' on it. Currently it is 9/1x16 Wood. All pressure treated timbers.

For being 20 years old, it is in GREAT shape, and skates pretty damn well."

If your gonna build it, use treated lumber folks.... these four shots by John Bracken.

Been there around 20 years, and still skatale!

See, Vert is clearly not dead. Fact is, I believe there are more vert ramps on the East Coast right now than anywhere in the world....

Thanks for sharing Peter.

Now go Skateboarding people!
